Summer and ice cream just go together. Well, really anything and ice cream make a great combination. The best way to eat ice cream, however, is to lick it from a cone! Enjoyed that way, every drop of the delicious, cold, creamy concoction lingers on one’s tongue a bit longer before it’s swallowed, thereby enhancing one’s summer-y, estatic ice cream moment. Sadly, quality gluten-free ice cream cones are difficult to find. Those of us who must eat gluten-free often have to get our ice cream fix by the spoon and bowl method, which isn’t bad, but it isn’t the best way to enjoy the ice cream moment (it passes too quickly!).
Just this week, my son gifted me with what now promises to be a summer full of perfect ice cream-moment indulgences! He discovered Goldbaum’s gluten-free ice cream cones, ordered some in bulk, and shared his treasure-find with his gluten-free sister and me! In our freezer is a carton of strawberry-rosemary ice cream that Phil recently made, so of course I immediately scooped some of this rich, flavorful home-made ice cream onto a Goldbaum’s cone: perfection. Simply delectable, the combination of the flavor of the ice cream with the light sweetness of the cone. Goldbaum’s cones are the texture of a regular ice cream cone, they’re pleasantly crunchy, and they stand up well to the challenge of melting ice cream. They don’t get soggy, and they don’t leak. Yep, things sure are improving for those of us who must eat gluten-free!
